The most famous mountain along the Rhine River is Loreley Rock. It
is situated at the narrowest point on the Rhine River between
Switzerland and the North Sea.
Due to strong currents at Loreley Rock, many ships have gone down here.
A number of old legends involve Loreley Rock. One such legends
involves a young maiden who jumped to her death from the rock because of an
unfaithful lover. The legend is alluded to in a famous
German
song called Loreley.
